Full Timeline
2-3 days: Pre-Op
- Pick up post-op medications from your local pharmacy.
- Prepare your house for recovery with helpful items including pillows, ice packs, & positioning wedges to help you maintain comfort after surgery.
D 0: Surgery day
- You will see Dr. Gupta prior to surgery to ask any last-minute questions.
- This is an outpatient surgery. You will go home the same day.
- When you wake up, you will have a special wrap around your head.
- Sleep with your head elevated to reduce swelling.
Day 1: Office evaluation
- Office visit for drain removal & dressing removal.
- Compression garment will be provided to you.
- AVOID bending over at the waist. This can cause unneeded pressure to the incision area and can result in complications.
- DO NOT Lift, carry, or pick up any object greater than 5 lbs.
- Avoid activities that may cause you to hit or bump face.
- For the first 2 weeks, sleep at a 45-degree elevated angle. Do not sleep flat on your back. Elevating your head will reduce swelling.
- Ice face for 20 minutes every hour that you are awake.
D 2-7
- You may shower 48 hours after the procedure. Towel dry your hair and apply antibiotic ointment and gauze to the incision lines.
- Continue wearing compression garment at all times
- Get up and walk around every few hours to avoid the risk of blood clots. Avoid stairs, if possible; if necessary, ensure you have assistance.
- You will be sore, swollen and bruised. You may ice the areas liposuction the face & neck.
- Ensure you are drinking lots of fluid with electrolytes to help maintain hydration.
- Continue post op medication as prescribed.
