It is recommended to avoid lifting your arms over your head until 3-4 weeks post op. There is tension on the incision in the axilla (arm pit) and we want to ensure that area is fully healed before raising your arms up.
You may be able to resume light activity once you are 4 weeks post op, moderate activity at 6 weeks post op and high level activity once you are 8 weeks post op.
Your arms will be much slimmer immediately after surgery. There will be residual swelling in the tissue which takes 2-3 months to diminish.
Scars will take up to a full year to heal.
Breast procedures, such as breast lift, breast reduction or breast augmentation, are the most common procedures combined with arm lifts.
